How can you spot a genuine imported Digital Safety Locker against a refilled or relabelled fake?
When you receive your FT-2042N from ShampooBD, the first thing you should examine is the outer packaging seal and the condition of the cardboard box itself, as genuine imports from Furnitex arrive with consistent factory-standard wrapping that shows no signs of tampering or previous opening. You will notice that authentic units display sharp, evenly-printed manufacturer markings on both the front and rear surfaces, whereas counterfeit versions often have blurry text, misaligned logos, or spelling variations that differ from the original Chinese factory standards. The serial number label on genuine imported lockers features a specific holographic element or security strip that catches light in a particular way, and you should compare this carefully against photos on the official Furnitex documentation if you have access to it.
Inside the box, all components should be factory-fresh with protective plastic wrapping still intact around the locker body and override key, and the instruction manual should be printed on high-quality paper with clear diagrams rather than photocopied sheets. If you find that the steel construction feels lighter than expected, the powder coating appears uneven, or the battery compartment shows signs of prior use, these are strong indicators that the unit may have been previously opened or refurbished by an unauthorised dealer rather than being a genuine sealed import from the manufacturer.
What should you know about the battery system and when to replace it?
Your Digital Safety Locker FT-2042N operates on four standard 1.5V AA batteries, which you will install in the designated compartment located at the bottom of the unit according to the polarity markings shown inside the battery door. These batteries typically provide several months of reliable operation depending on how frequently you unlock and lock the locker, and you will receive clear warning indicators through the LED display when the battery voltage begins to drop, giving you plenty of advance notice before complete failure occurs. When you notice the low battery indicator light activating, you should replace all four batteries with fresh ones rather than mixing old and new batteries, as this ensures consistent voltage delivery and prevents unexpected lockouts during your daily use.
How do you use the FT-2042N correctly and set your personal security code?
Setting up your locker begins with using the override emergency key to open the unit, after which you will locate the reset button positioned on the interior back panel and press it according to the timing sequence detailed in your instruction manual. You then enter your desired numeric code using the digital keypad, confirm it by pressing the appropriate button, and the system will lock in your new code and close the door automatically once programming completes, which typically takes just a few seconds. To unlock in daily use, you simply enter your chosen code on the external keypad, press the enter button, and the electronic latch releases, allowing you to open the door fully and access your valuables stored safely inside on the single interior shelf.
What does a first-time user typically experience during the initial setup period?
When you first open your new FT-2042N, you may notice a faint machine oil odour from the manufacturing process, which is completely normal and will dissipate naturally within a few hours as the locker is exposed to air, and you should not be concerned if the internal LED light takes a moment to respond consistently until the battery connections fully settle. Many new users are surprised by how robust the solid steel construction feels compared to lighter security products they may have used previously, and you will likely appreciate the weight and stability of the unit once it is positioned in your chosen location. The override key access feature will give you confidence that you maintain emergency entry capability at all times, even if you ever forget your digital code, though you should store this key separately from the locker itself in a safe place that only you know.
Are there any users or situations where this locker may not be appropriate?
The Digital Safety Locker FT-2042N is designed for general household and office document or valuables storage, and while it is suitable for most adult users, anyone with severe visual impairment may find the digital keypad interface challenging without assistance in programming their initial code. If you plan to use this locker in an environment with extreme temperature fluctuations or very high humidity levels, such as unprotected outdoor spaces or poorly ventilated basements, the electronic components may experience reduced reliability over time, so you should ideally position it in a climate-controlled indoor location. Additionally, the override key system means this is best suited for users who can maintain secure key storage separately, as the protection level depends on keeping that emergency key private and inaccessible to unauthorized persons.
