Formula Milk Stage Guide for Bangladesh Parents: Which Stage for Which Age?

Formula Milk Stage Guide for Bangladesh Parents

One of the most common questions from new parents in Bangladesh is: "Which stage formula milk should I give my baby?" This guide explains every stage of infant formula, the correct age for each, and the most trusted brands available in Bangladesh.

Formula Milk Stages Explained

Stage 1: Infant Formula (Birth to 6 Months)

Stage 1 formulas are suitable for newborns from birth when breastfeeding is not possible or supplementary feeding is needed. They most closely resemble breastmilk in protein ratio and fat content.

Best Stage 1 formulas in Bangladesh:

• Aptamil Stage 1 800gm
• Cow & Gate Stage 1 800gm
• NAN Optipro Stage 1 800gm

Stage 2: Follow-On Formula (6 to 12 Months)

Stage 2 formulas have higher iron content for babies who are now also starting solid foods. They are NOT suitable before 6 months.

Best Stage 2 formulas in Bangladesh:

• Aptamil Stage 2 800gm
• Cow & Gate Stage 2
• NAN Optipro Stage 2 800gm

Stage 3: Growing-Up Formula (1 to 2 Years)

At 12 months, babies transition to Stage 3 growing-up milk alongside a varied solid diet. Stage 3 is higher in iron and Vitamin D to compensate for the nutritional gaps in toddler diets.

Best Stage 3 formulas in Bangladesh:

• Aptamil Stage 3 800gm
• NAN Optipro Stage 3 1800gm — best value

Stage 4: Growing-Up Formula (2 to 3 Years)

Stage 4 is for toddlers aged 2-3 years who may still benefit from structured growing-up milk nutrition, especially Vitamin D and iron.

Best Stage 4 formulas in Bangladesh:

• Aptamil Stage 4 800gm
• Cow & Gate Stage 4 800gm

Important Rules to Remember

• Never dilute formula — always follow the preparation instructions on the tin
• Never switch stages without checking with a paediatrician
• Always use formula within 1 hour of preparation
• Do not add cereal or sugar to formula bottles
